Welcome! I am so glad you’re here.

I’m a trained full-spectrum doula based in Helsinki, Finland with a special focus on nutrition and movement.

Whether you're preparing for birth or navigating the early days of parenthood, I'm here to walk alongside you with empathy, care, and evidence-based guidance.

Alongside my work as a doula I’m also a mama to a toddler and bring both professional training and lived experience to the families I support. As a previous chef I think food is the way to the heart and I like to incorporate it in my work (you might hear me talk about the benefits of sourdough bread, dates and much more!)

I’m a sailor, hiker, and climber, and these experiences inform how I support families. Movement, breath, and physical awareness are central to my approach as a doula.

I speak German, French, and English fluently and offer services in all three languages.

The way you birth matters.

It is an experience that you will carry with you for a lifetime. Birth can be an extremely powerful and transformative event. Its impact reaches far beyond the birth space and into our families, communities, and future generations. We carry it with us for a lifetime. It is worth investing in.

As a trained full-spectrum doula, I hold deep respect for midwives, obstetricians, and all those present in the birth space. My intention is always to work collaboratively, bringing our different roles, perspectives, and strengths together in service of the birthing person.

The difference a doula makes

Doulas offer continuous, non-medical support throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Our role is to nurture and support you emotionally and physically, share evidence-based information, and help you and your support person prepare for birth with confidence.

During birth, you will meet the nurses, midwives, or doctors supporting you for the first time while you are in labour and arrive at the hospital. In contrast, as a doula, I intentionally build a relationship with you and your birth partner(s) before the birth. Research shows that entering labour with a doula you already know and trust helps you feel more secure, and that this established trust is key to effective support during labour.

(Banda et al. 2010; Akhavan & Lundgren 2012; Lunda, Minnie, & Benadé 2018).

I think birth has the potential to be a deeply transformative and empowering passage, one that you will carry with you for your entire life. While birth may be unpredictable, you can feel empowered and in control by being well-informed and understanding your options. As a doula, I walk beside you and your partner, offering emotional, physical, practical and informational support every step of your journey from conception, pregnancy, birth, to your postpartum period. I am your compass as you navigate giving birth in Finland.  I offer a unique blend of intuitive care and evidence-based guidance, and combine heartfelt presence with solid, up-to-date research data, supporting you in making the choices that are right for you. I am here to support you regardless of your birth intention, whether you want a hospital birth, a homebirth, medicated or not.

Numerous studies have documented the benefits of having a doula present during labour. They proved among other things how having a doula decreases:

the overall cesarean rate by 50%, the length of labour by 25%, and requests for an epidural by 60%.

As a trained full-spectrum doula, I deeply respect midwives, obstetricians, and everyone present in the birth space. My aim is always to work collaboratively, bringing our different presences and knowledge together to create the best possible experience for you as a birthing person. It’s essential to note that a doula is not a midwife, but offers invaluable, personalised support alongside medical care. My services are private and independent.

I cover Helsinki and can offer remote services too upon request.

“I walk alongside birth givers with compassionate, evidence-based support, creating space for confidence, intuition, and connection. Inspired by natural birth and the rhythms of nature, I support you in shaping a birth experience that feels grounded, informed, and truly your own.”

What my Clients Say

Having Birte’s support was the best thing my husband and I could have had while preparing for birth. She genuinely cared about us and was fully available every step of the way. With her, we learned a lot about labor, nutrition, birth preparation, and the postpartum period. Birte welcomed and respected all of our choices and did everything she could to make us feel comfortable within our own reality. She is extremely respectful and incredibly knowledgeable, which gave us a great sense of confidence, always answering our questions and sharing helpful resources and materials.

I genuinely felt comfortable in every conversation with her and felt I could share anything, without hesitation. On top of that, we had so much fun in all our meetings, because Birte naturally creates a light, warm, and joyful atmosphere. She is a very well-rounded doula, with deep knowledge, empathy, and the ability to offer practical and thoughtful guidance, enriched by her own personal experience, which makes a huge difference. Having her support in every sense was truly a blessing.

A doula is not a midwife. I am not a medical professional. My approach is complementary to the care and guidance you receive from Neuvola/ your medecial provider/ nurse.

Your Questions, Answered

How soon should I book doula services?

The truth is the sooner the better, so we have enough time to get to know each other and build trust. Pending availability though I will take on clients later on in their pregnancy journey too !

Why a doula?

A doula is there to provide informational, emotional and physical support for you and your family. We teach birth preparation classes and help partners unlock their full potential during pregnancy, labour and beyond. A doula can help you navigate giving birth in a country that is maybe not your own.

Does my partner still have a role if I hire a doula?

Absolutely. A doula does not replace your partner ! My role is to support both of you. I help your partner feel more confident, informed, and involved in the way that feels right for them, whether that means hands-on support, quiet presence, or practical help. My role is to help create space for your partner to focus on being emotionally present with you during birth and postpartum.

Your path to a peaceful birth

I offer a free discovery meet-up, in person or over the phone where we talk about your birth or postpartum wishes and figure out whether we are a good match.
